OCTOBER NEWS
Late Breaking News: Horst and Brenda, who led the very excellent recent workshops on the Milonga tango style are coming to Practica this Friday, and have generously offered assistance to those who need some refreshing!
Thank you both, look forward to seeing you all there from 7.30 - 9.30pm at Stompin Dance Studio in the Quadrant Mall.
Practica with Horst & Brenda Friday 23 Oct 09 at Stompin from 7.30pm

At the last Tango meeting, there was lots of discussion and some news to share. In a nutshell:Regular meetings are wanted and needed to keep the club healthy and growing:
The next meeting will take place next Thursday, 22nd October at The Northern Club Hotel, Cameron St Launceston, at 7pm.
Afterwards there may be dancing as the Hotel is most enthusiastic about supporting tango, and it's such a great little space with nice ambience.
All invited.A more formal committee is expected to be formed; as before, those who RSVP will receive an agenda of sorts, regardless of whether they can come or not. Please email your suggestions for discussion.

The next Milonga, due on 31st October is now cancelled
whilst we organise something similar, but drawing together a number of dance clubs; details very soon!! Expect a theme....

There is now a definite plan to
Make a Public Spectacle of ourselves in the Mall on
Saturday 24th October at 11am.
Even if you don't want to dance, come and support those brave enough to have a go! This is not about showing off fancy moves (unless, of course, you want to!), it's about showing off the spirit of the Club. Music will be provided; come on down in your street dancing shoes, St John St end of the Mall. Meet at 10.45am. Let's do it people, show Launceston how much fun we have! RSVP if you like.

Friday night beginners practica: 7.30-8pm
We are now including a special beginners Guided practica from 7.30 until 8pm . This is for anyone wanting to learn some basic steps in a friendly environment. Each week two of CTC's intermediate dancers, a male and female, will be on hand to help anyone who wants to learn and enjoy this wonderful dance we are all so obsessed about. It will be a time for sharing and caring, anyone is welcome to come and help but we will rotate through the club as to who opens up. For October Julian and Jo will be providing some excellent guidance. We will also be promoting soon, so if and when we get more interested beginners we will aim to provide them with lessons to suit their needs.
Practica as usual will then continue from 8 until 9.30 pm.
Beginners are more than welcome to stay on for this.

LET’S LEARN MILONGA
Milonga, the type of dance, as opposed to the social event, can be considered the mother of tango. Characterised by a fixed rhythmic pattern, Milonga is still danced at Tango social dance events (a 'Milonga') alternating with Tango and Valz styles, eg: Tango (1 tanda: 3/4 songs), Milonga, Valz, Tango, Milonga, Valz. In cycles, these 3 genres inspire tango appassionatos from all around the world.

Coinciding with the next Milonga (the dance) in Launceston on August 29, the Cambalache Tango Club is organizing Milonga (the tango style) workshops with two of our own state Milonga experts, Horst & Brenda.

Don’t miss the opportunity to be one with the happy rhythm of Milonga. Never sit back again when the Milonga songs are on… join in and dance!
